most affordable neighbourhoods in toronto

| Toronto Neighbourhoods

Part of the Canadian Dream is to own a home and what is more exciting than owning a home in Toronto? It can seem off-putting to many due to the prices, but there are actually quite a few affordable neighbourhoods in Toronto that should encourage you to keep vying for your dream! Here is a list of some of the most affordable neighbourhoods in Toronto:

South Riverdale

South Riverdale’s southern point is bordered by Lakeshore Boulevard. Its easternmost border is Leslieville and its westernmost point is the Don River Valley. This neighbourhood is stunning. With beautiful architecture, an abundance of greenery and lots of shopping, Riverdale is a neighbourhood catching many people’s eyes. Northern Riverdale is out of reach for some buyers, but if you are looking to affordably move into Toronto, you should strongly consider South Riverdale where you can still find a one bedroom, one bathroom condo for approximately $500,000. However, due to the high interest in North Riverdale, I foresee the prices in South Riverdale will increase very quickly, so jumping into the market sooner rather than later is something to consider.

Rockcliffe-Smythe

One of the most affordable neighbourhoods in Toronto is Rockcliffe-Smythe. This neighbourhood zigzags across the northwest corner where the Humber River and Eglinton Avenue West intersect. This neighbourhood is a hop, skip and a jump away from High Park and you could easily find condos between the price range of $400,000 – $600,000. For under $600,00 you could easily find a two-bedroom condo!

Malvern

If your heart is set on owning a freehold home, Malvern may be the neighbourhood in Toronto for you. Malvern is bordered by the 401 to the south, Markham Road to the west, Morningside Avenue to the east and Finch Avenue to the North. If you love woodlands, mature trees and lots of green spaces, this is an ideal neighbourhood for you! It is also an ideal neighbourhood for commuters because Highways 401 and 403 are within close proximity. If you have a family, the Toronto Zoo and the Malvern Sports Complex are conveniently located within this neighbourhood as well. The best part of this neighbourhood is that if you are looking for a freehold home, you can find a bungalow here for under $800,000! You can also find a four-bedroom, three storey townhouse for under $500,000!

Dovercourt Wallace Emerson

This is a neighbourhood that has changed and evolved several times over in recent history. As of today, it is located between Landsdowne Avenue, Dufferin Street, Bloor Street and Dupont Street. This neighbourhood has a young and artistic vibe to it. With walkable, tree-lined streets you can have a strong day and night life in Dovercourt Wallace Emerson. You can find condos in this neighbourhood between $350,000 and $500,000.
