Whether you are living in a minimalist condo that you want to enhance with your personality, or your condo could use some updating and refreshing – there are plenty of ways to do easy condo renovations to improve your home’s value. Here are some of the best tips I have found so far:

In The Kitchen

Cabinetry: Updating kitchen cabinetry is one of the best things you can do when you live in a smaller space like a condo. While you can either paint or replace the cabinets themselves or even just switch in some new hardware – I strongly recommend you think deeper. Condo owners want to be able to fit as much as possible into small spaces, so consider updating your cabinetry to include space savers, such as built-in lazy Susans, dividers or pull-out racks.

Countertops: Another easy condo renovation to improve your home’s value is updating the countertops. As you will likely have a smaller kitchen than those found in houses, this is one of the areas where it is definitely worth shelling out on granite, quartz or marble countertops. This expensive look will elevate your whole kitchen to another level, while being incredibly durable and stylish!

In The Living Room

Flooring: If your home has carpeting anywhere, now is the time to rip it out! Carpet, while soft and warm on your feet, is difficult to clean and maintain. If you are going to replace the carpet in your condo make sure that you are maintaining consistent flooring throughout the living room, bedroom(s), and dens. To create a uniform look, the kitchen can share the same flooring style as the rest of the condo, or can match the bathrooms, which would ideally be tiled.

Trimming And Baseboards: A great way to add personality to a small space is to update the baseboards. If you install additional moulding (also known as a backband) around a casing you can really dress up a door or walls – giving your condo a sophisticated look without breaking the bank!

In The Bathroom

Vanity: Updating your vanity is a great way to add unique flavour to your space while improving its value. You can either install a countertop that matches the one in your kitchen (to create a cohesive look) or purchase a new custom piece that has ample storage and great design.

Shower Curtains: Believe it or not, shower curtains can make a space feel more cramped. As shower curtains are generally opaque to create privacy for the person showering, it can make a bathroom feel smaller than it is. Instead, install modern, clear glass panels to create a spacious and clean look in your bathroom.

Tiling: If you cannot replace the tiling in your shower or on the floor of your bathroom, consider investing in tile paint to give your bathroom a fresh and updated look. If you have an artistic thumb, stencilling is extremely popular and can add a more stylised look to your space.
