| Toronto Neighbourhoods

Toronto is full of beautiful neighbourhoods that you can call home. However, when you belong to a young family you need to consider more than just lovely architecture and your commute to work. You need something that is close to good schools, that provides the space you need to raise a family and possibly green spaces for you and your family to play in. Here are, in my opinion, some of the best neighbourhoods in Toronto for families.

Bloor West Village

If you love space but still want to be within a stone’s throw to Toronto’s downtown core, Bloor West Village is the neighbourhood for you. Many of the homes were built in the 1920s and are of the Craftsman style with large front porches. There are also a fair amount of custom-built modern homes for those who like a more unique style in their homes. Families will love Beresford Park’s playground, wading pool and outdoor ice skating rink. There are some very reputable daycares and doggie daycares, and public schools all located within this neighbourhood.

The Beaches

One of the best neighbourhoods in Toronto for families is The Beaches. This is ideal for those who are looking for a laid-back neighbourhood with a vintage small-town feel. The main attractions of the neighbourhood are the beach for which the neighbourhood is named after, and the Queen Street strip. The neighbourhood is also home to Kew Gardens, a large public park which features a bike trail and a boardwalk.

Davisville Village

This hidden gem of a neighbourhood is not to be missed for those with young families. This midtown neighbourhood is bounded by Mount Pleasant Cemetery and Eglinton to the north, Yonge to the west and Bayview Avenue to the east. Davisville Village borders on Yonge, which  means that the Yonge-University subway line is always within close reach. There is also regular bus service on Eglinton and Bayview. This neighbourhood is home to a mix of beautiful semi detached, detached and town homes as well as high-rise living for those who prefer to move their families into condos full of amenities.

York Mills

York Mills is a wonderful neighbourhood for families. Full of history, this neighbourhood is home to properties that date back as far as the 1920s all the way to the 1960s. Here, you will find homes in the Tudor style, English Cottage style as well as more modern, contemporary designs. York Mills is also home to many luxury condominium buildings. If you enjoy shopping, there are many places to see and enjoy in this neighbourhood such as York Mills Plaza and the famous, upscale Bayview Village Shopping centre.

These are just some of the best neighbourhoods in Toronto for families. There are many more that I would love to share with you.
